For example, the rock formation in the background is known as Mule Ears Peak and if you have a bit of imagination it does look as if two &#39;ears&#39; protrude from the rocky landscape. <br />The arrangement of three pads of the prickly pear cactus in the foreground have always reminded me of Mickey Mouse -- one pad being the head and two on either side as the ears. Sadly, <em>every</em> day our planet suffocates and suffers a little more - even in remote areas far from large population centers such as the area I photographed around Big Bend, Texas.</p><p>In this image the distant hills and mountains to the left are completely obstructed from view by smog. It merits its name due to &#39;mocking&#39; the songs of other birds and will run through a chorus of clatter well before dawn.</p><p>In spite of borrowing jingles from other birds, a mockingbird is also very territorial - even with humans. From a distance it resembles an abstract rocket, but zoom in to the top and it fits right in with other pyramidal pinnacles of the city.
