A terrible situation. It's awful to say it's an amazing photo. Seems like bad storms and this type of smoke appear beautiful in the sky, but the destruction on the ground is devastating.

That is why you don't see a lot of old firefighters. Sadly, they inhale a good deal of bad air.

I seem to be having some trouble seeing the picture - it seems to be giving me a gray screen on Firefox and IE.

Now it seems to be ok. This is a rager! The smoke clouds look dangerous but they have a certain beauty as well and contrast starkly against the verdant green of the mountains.

the sky is sizzling. (no groan over the pun, please) burning oil wells? hmmm, will the laws of supply and demand go into immediate effect with an increase in my gas price today, even if those wells are old and not used? any excuse to help dubya's boys.

This is a pretty intense scene. I like the contrast between the fire and the more tropical scene in front of it.
