That is an amazing self portrait! I am very sceptical about taking portraits; and exceptionally so about taking self-portraits. The reason, as you rightly said, I hate being photographed. But this one is fabulous.

You're right about rather being behind than in front of a camera. I'm in the same boat. Regardless of this, this self portrait is a great. Very well done.

Plus, it's always fun to finally have a face to link to a name :)

i agree with the previous comments. very well done portrait -- even better considering it's a self-portrait. not easy to do on any level. you're right, you do look a lot like your dad. and to echo Mindy's comment you do look a lot more serious here than you seem in your writing. anyway, on a more technical note, the lighting and color are perfect, framing and composition excellent, also like the dof and how you have the background with the lighter green right behind your head but it looks like it was taken outdoors, not like it was in a studio or something. great shot!

Excellent. The lighting is great and the green shallow DOF works very nicely as backdrop.
