Purple Mountains | Saturday Apr 05, 2008
The foreground gorge is known as Tuff Canyon, while the distant mountains are the Chisos Mountains -- all a part of Big Bend National Park in Texas.
The word "tuff" refers to volcanic ash hardened over time and is the matter that comprises the canyon walls.

This is great. Really portrays the expansiveness of this region. Big Bend is wide open rugged big country. You certainly were there at the right time before it gets too hot.
