Foggy Roost | Tuesday Nov 06, 2007
Despite the cloaking fog, this is a spooky image for me. Only a few hours earlier (in the middle of the night) it sounded as if the Hounds of Hell were on the loose near this spot. The clamor of noise was being made by a pack of coyotes on the opposing shoreline of the cove of this lake (approximately 500 feet away.) Normally, when I hear coyotes their song comes from the faraway distance, but on this particular moonlit night last week the yelping and howling was carried jarringly across the water to my bedroom window.
I could not see anything at the time of the commotion, but it was somewhat comforting to find at least one creature found safe harbor and was alive at this make-do island as day broke.
