Dealey Plaza | 08:23PM Jan 23, 2008

This image was taken across the street from the Old Red Courthouse (in yesterday's posting) and is a Dallas city park. The bronze statue honors George Dealey, a British emigrant to Texas that served as publisher of The Dallas Morning News for many years. The park, known as Dealey Plaza, was completed in 1940 and is named to honor the early civic leader.

Sadly, it is also the location of John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963. The Texas School Book Depository is on the north side of this park and I will post an image of it tomorrow.
