Cotton Belt Thanksgiving | Thursday Nov 22, 2007
This is Thanksgiving Day in the US. The origin of the holiday began centuries ago at the end of the harvest season. Today, meals are prepared and families get together and eat turkey, bread stuffing/dressing, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, green bean casserole, etc... all topped off with special pies (my favorites are pecan and pumpkin :-)
While cotton is not eaten, it is harvested and King Cotton played an important role in the 'belt' states of the Southern US. This old water tower is located in Grapevine, Texas -- the site of the last few images involving railroads and cowgirls.
Happy Thanksgiving!
