The composition of the first one is superb with the stone shadow!
In the second one the bird looks like a cartoon character as says Elaine!

the top one is a fabulous capture with those horizontal lines running through it and the fabulous colour of the bird perched on the contrasting stone, the second well he looks like he just got off the ride in the fun fair,lol.

Those lines are most intriguing. Cute on capturing the bird in an awkward position. They're quite beautiful.

What cute photographs! It does look like an awkward take off and I totally see what you mean about the ski jump (one of my favorite winter olympics events to watch). the cardinal looks like it's eyeing you like he sees the paparazzi hiding behind a bush. I love all the detail and beautiful colors and light.

I'm not sure how I missed this but I'm glad I backtracked. An awkward dismount, indeed. The photo up top is one of my favorites of yours. The detail on that rock and the curious pose of the bird really make it for me.

Cool shots of my favourite bird. We get a few of the up here, but they are really elusive. When I was working in Virginia, I saw hundreds of them. No wonder they are the state bird.
