I understand that it might be a wound in the heart of the Americans not to have invented Venice, and to be obliged to copy it. Note thet there are two reasons for not being so ashamed:
1) They are the first to copy it, the Cinese have not even tried.
2) The Campanile in Venice is itself a copy, as the original one collapsed a century ago. (Note that Venetians are gentlemen, it collapsed without killing anybody and damaging anything among all monuments of St Mark's place)

Love the vibrant colors in this snap! It's also interesting to see the structure moving away in two planes from the center of the snap.
